UK and Irish Radio Stations broadcasting on the Internet

RadioFeeds How-to Guides » RadioFeeds in Your Pocket

Imagine having a device that provides instant access to the radio stations found on RadioFeeds, and fits inside your pocket!

Well, it's all possible with a Pocket PC. Pocket PCs cost a little more than wi-fi internet radios you might have seen in the shops, but the benefits are well worth the extra:

- Pocket PCs are smaller and lighter than an internet radio. You can carry it around in your pocket like a walkman.
- Stations are easier to access with portals such as RadioFeeds To Go!, our PDA service. There's no need to scroll through a massive list of stations just to reach your favourite station. You can also play your own favourite streams by manually entering the URL.

- Pocket PCs can store and play your favourite music tracks, supporting all the major formats such as mp3, WMA and AAC. (Additional but free software may be required). Pocket PCs can also play the new AAC+ streams, mostly unsupported by the majority of Internet Radios.
- All Internet Radios available in the shops currently require a power source from the mains. Pocket PCs are like iPods, and run off a rechargeable battery. Unlike the iPod, however, the battery can be easily taken out and replaced.
- All Pocket PCs have a large full-colour display. Need I say more?
- Software is upgradeable, meaning streams in newer formats introduced in the future should still be supported. Certain Internet Radios out in the market may not support the upgrade of codecs.
- It's a full personal-organiser where you can store contacts and manage your life with its built-in calendar.
- As it's essentially a limited-version of a Windows PC, you can play games on it, watch videos on it, check emails and surf the web. With additional hardware and software, you can turn it into a satellite navigation system.

Pocket PCs can be used personally by using earphones/headphones, or you can hook it up to your hi-fi system with a simple 3.5mm headphone jack -> Stereo RCA lead and allow everyone in the room to listen in.
